Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Armen Simonyan received residents of the communities of Kosakh and Proshyan today, April 28, to discuss the issue of transport communication in these villages.
Let us recall that the residents of these villages demand the restoration of bus routes No. 25 and 59, which connect Yerevan with their villages.
Proshyan resident Sergo Muradyan told reporters: “The last time we blocked the Yerevan-Ashtarak road, we were told that we should meet on April 25. To be honest, there were expectations, but yesterday, on a non-working day, the mayor’s office made a statement that we are against. I don’t have high expectations now, but today the director of the rehabilitation center named after national hero Vahagn Asatryan will be with us. I do not expect a good answer, but God bless us all, the hearts of our people.”
“If we do not receive a satisfactory answer, residents of different regions will raise their voices of protest together with us, in large groups,” he said.
According to Sergo Muradyan, the new Multi Trans minibuses are now more expensive, will serve shorter routes and will not go to villages.
“I come to the conclusion that they are again reaching into people’s pockets, increasing the burden on our people,” he said.
As for Nikol Pashinyan’s remark that the state does not reach into people’s pockets, the hand you see in your pocket is your hand in your pocket, because this money is spent on the people themselves, a resident of Proshyan said: “I will answer like this, Nikol Pashinyan, stand next to me, I will put my hand in your pocket.” Today they are doing everything to rob the people. This is not just a social problem, everything comes from the political leaders themselves. Today, if we do not receive a positive answer, we will enter the political arena with all the issues at once: price increases, transportation. Many parties, many forces will join us.
“If he does not provide a positive solution to this issue, he will lose his votes in two communities – Proshyan and Kasakh.”
The protests began when I was five years old. Residents of Proshyan and Kasakh communities used to use buses No. 25 and 59, paying 150 drams to get to Yerevan. Now the Yerevan Municipality has decided that the buses will not reach these settlements. The new route will be operated by the Multitransport company, the fare will be 250 and 200 drams. In addition, as residents previously reported, the new route will cover only 7 km, running from their settlements to the famous Institute of Physics in the Ajapnyak administrative district, and the last bus will depart at 19:30. The last stop on the previous route was near Victory Park.
