On May 15, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, received in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, member of the National Council of the Swiss Confederation, Erich Fontobell. This was reported by the Information System of the Mother See.
During the meeting, His Holiness expressed gratitude to the Swiss authorities for their support to Armenia and efforts to overcome the problems faced by the Armenian people. In this regard, His Holiness referred with gratitude to the resolution initiated by Thiar Fontobell and adopted by both houses of the Swiss Parliament in favor of protecting the rights of the forcibly displaced Armenians of Artsakh and ensuring their safe and dignified return to their historical homeland.
In turn, Erich Fontobell presented to the Armenian Patriarch the “Peace Forum for Nagorno-Karabakh”. The process of adopting the resolution “Ensuring the Possibility of Return of Armenians”, as well as its goals and vision for further actions, emphasizing that the return of the Armenians of Artsakh is a fair demand of international law and this issue should be consistently raised and presented in the relevant international bodies.
The meeting also discussed the important role of the Armenian community of Switzerland in establishing friendly relations between the two peoples and promoting the progress of the country.
