In Armenia, no one is afraid of arrest or detention anymore. This was stated by Narek Karapetyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Electric Grid of Armenia, in an interview with journalists, referring to his possible arrest.
“Dear people, dear compatriots, I would like to say that no one is afraid of arrest or detention in Armenia. Let them arrest and detain as much as they want. In Armenia, being behind bars at this time is a great honor because of the government,” Karapetyan said.
According to him, this is the moment when a person must go “against the current” in order to “live with your head held high” in the future.
“Today is an honor, because there are moments when you need to show your will and go not with the current, but against the current. This is that moment,” he said.
Narek Karapetyan reported that 37 documents were confiscated from his office.
When asked if he could be arrested, he replied: “There is such information, it seems to me that they are still studying it, maybe they will find something.”
Karapetyan added that a hat is very significant evidence in today’s Armenia, so they could be tried for several months.
Speaking about the opposition rallies, he noted: “If the gathering had not been so crowded, we might not have faced such repressions.”
As for further political developments, the possible creation of a new force and its leader, he said: “We will make statements on this matter. All questions that cause concern or interest will be answered.”
