Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said at a meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko that cooperation between the two countries will help neutralize the “illegal sanctions” of the West. According to the Iranian leader, the destructive approach of the United States and its allies to resolving foreign policy issues is unacceptable for both Iran and Belarus.
“For more than 40 years, they have applied various sanctions against our country, and recently they have begun to apply them against your country. We understand that the implementation of our agreements and bilateral cooperation is the only way to neutralize all these illegal sanctions,” Masoud Pezeshkian said.
“Thanks to a common position on many international issues, as well as the agreements reached within the EAEU, BRICS and SCO, we can develop constructive bilateral relations,” the Iranian president emphasized.
Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Belarus on August 18. During a meeting with Iranian President Alexander Lukashenko, he said that Belarus is ready to discuss any issues with Iran, including cooperation in the food and military-technical spheres.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi noted that over the past year, bilateral trade between the countries has increased by more than 14%. According to him, during the visit of the Iranian delegation to Minsk, documents on cooperation in the economic, technological and cultural spheres between Iran and Belarus will be signed.
