The United States has begun a partial evacuation of its consulate staff in Adana, Turkey, amid security concerns related to the escalating conflict in the Middle East.
According to the U.S. State Department, non-key staff and their families working at the U.S. Consulate General in Adana were ordered to leave the country on March 9, 2026, citing increased security risks in the region.
At the same time, the U.S. Consulate in Adana has suspended consular services. U.S. citizens are advised to contact the U.S. Embassy in Ankara or the Consulate General in Istanbul. Americans located in southeastern Turkey are strongly urged to leave the region.
Restrictions on American personnel have been in effect throughout southeastern Turkey since the outbreak of hostilities between the United States and Iran on February 28, 2026.
