Turkey’s caution in its actions against Iran is understandable. Ankara wants Iran weakened, not defeated, wrote National Assembly member Tigran Abrahamyan.
“Turkey is well aware that if Tehran withdraws from the Middle East, Israel will focus its attention on them in this role-playing game.
Turkey’s policy at this stage is predicated on the assumption that both Iran and Israel will suffer heavy losses, and Turkey itself, seizing the moment and opportunity, will expand its sphere of influence and, at least for a while, distance itself from possible Israeli activity.”
