“I draw your attention to a noteworthy passage in the report:
‘In 2025, Prime Minister Pashinyan proposed creating and personally appointing a council to select a new leader of the Armenian Apostolic Church and promoted clergy who shared his plans to overthrow the current Catholicos.’
Pashinyan’s campaign against Catholicos Karekin II was accompanied by the arrests of clergy and lay members of the Armenian Apostolic Church who criticized his government or became his political opponents,” he wrote.
