Basij commander Gholamreza Soleimani was killed in Tehran.
“Yesterday, the Israeli Air Force, acting on IDF intelligence, struck and killed Gholamreza Soleimani, who commanded the Basij unit for the past six years,” the press release stated.
The IDF noted that the Basij forces played a significant role in suppressing recent protests in Iran.
Iran has not yet commented on Soleimani’s death.
