Yesterday, March 18, another incident occurred at the Armavir Prison of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, between 4:30 and 5:00 PM, prison staff prevented a prisoner from attempting suicide in Building 4. While on duty, a guard at the observation post noticed the prisoner hang himself. The guard and his colleagues immediately opened the door, entered, and managed to save his life.
According to the photojournalist, the man who attempted suicide was an Armenian of the Diaspora.
Information about the incident was transferred from the prison to the Vagharshapat department of the Main Department of Community Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, from where a duty team arrived at the prison, compiled documents about the incident and transferred them to the Vagharshapat investigative department of the Armavir regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia, where a criminal case was initiated on the facts of the incident.
