The RA Investigative Committee has received a petition from the defense attorney to lift the preventive measures against the Catholicos of All Armenians.
“We have received the defense attorney’s petition to lift the preventive measures against Garegin II Nersisyan, and it will be reviewed within the timeframe established by law,” Investigative Committee Press Secretary Kima Avdalyan announced this morning.
Yesterday, Metropolitan Nikoloz Pachuashvili of Akhalkalaki, Kumurdi, and Kars stated that the Catholicos of All Armenians, Garegin II, wants to travel to Georgia, but is being obstructed.
“The Catholicos is not allowed to leave the country. We have sent a special invitation, and if he is allowed, he will come,” he noted.
As a reminder, His Holiness the Patriarch is a defendant. The Patriarch of All Armenians is accused of obstructing the execution of a court ruling requiring the reinstatement of Arman Saroyan as Primate of the Masyatsotn Diocese.
The restraining measures taken against His Holiness include a ban on absence.
