According to the reports of the Turkish media, an agreement on mutual understanding has been reached on the “Zangezur Corridor” project, and its implementation may take place within the next 4-5 years, which will allow creating a highly effective and more direct connection with the Turkic world.

Uraloglu noted that “Zangezur Corridor” should be considered as a route that will increase the throughput, parallel to the existing transport connections between the east and the west.

He said that the planned route will start in the eastern Turkish city of Kars, pass through Igdir and Diluja to Nakhichevan in Azerbaijan, continue along the “Zangezur Corridor” with a length of about 43 kilometers, and then connect with the main territory of Azerbaijan.

Uraloglu noted that the work on the Azerbaijani side is close to completion, and an agreement has been reached on the “Zangezur Corridor” itself, although construction there has not yet begun.

“I believe that the work will start soon, without any delays,” he said.

The minister added that there is a 180-kilometer section on the Nakhichevan side, part of which will be repaired, and the other part will be built from scratch. At the same time, the construction of a 224-kilometer section in Turkey has already begun and continues.

“Implementation of the “Zangezur Corridor” within 4-5 years will allow us to create a highly effective and more direct corridor that will be able to reach the Turkic world,” he noted.
