18-year-old schoolboy Davit Minasyan, who participated in the incident with Nikol Pashinyan at St. Anne Church, has been detained for two months by decision of Judge Mnatsakan Martirosyan.
In a conversation with reporters, lawyer Armen Melkonyan stated that they have not yet received the court’s justification for the detention.
“They believe that a 12th-grade student should be detained, but a number of individuals accused of particularly serious crimes may be under administrative supervision. The judge didn’t take any of this into account,” the lawyer said, noting that they will definitely appeal the decision.
When asked whether the lawyer believed the decision was made by the judge or Nikol Pashinyan, Melkonyan replied:
“I will refrain from making political judgments; let the public judge.”
The lawyer stated that today’s court ruling deprived Davit of the opportunity to graduate from high school. “In two months, the final bell will come for everyone except David. Whose conscience is this?”
As a reminder, a restraining order was issued against one of the brothers, Mikael Minasyan, as a preventative measure the day before.
