The Supreme Judicial Council has approved the Minister of Justice’s request to subject judge Vahe Misakyan of the Yerevan City First Instance General Jurisdiction Criminal Court to disciplinary responsibility.
Judge Vahe Misakyan’s powers have been terminated due to significant disciplinary violations.
“According to the submitted request, the disciplinary proceedings against the judge were initiated based on a notification from the prosecutor’s office, citing violations of procedural deadlines in the case of Vazgen Manukyan. Specifically, Manukyan was accused of making public calls aimed at seizing power and violently overthrowing the constitutional order. Judge Misakyan, having received the case in March 2021, issued a verdict in June 2024, finding Manukyan guilty and imposing a fine of 400,000 AMD. It should be noted that earlier, on April 4, the Council had issued a severe reprimand against judge Vahe Misakyan, which has a two-year expiration period; therefore, it is possible that the issue of terminating the judge’s powers has arisen,” wrote “Factinfo.”
It is worth recalling that Vahe Misakyan was also the judge in the case of Armenia’s third president, Serzh Sargsyan, who was acquitted on the grounds of lack of criminal composition
