The Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia, Mher Grigoryan, believes that the process of ratification of the regulation of the border delimitation commissions of Armenia and Azerbaijan is proceeding synchronously.
“I just don’t know at what phase that process is in Azerbaijan, but the logic of the signing at the moment of signing implies that it should be synchronous,” Grigoryan told reporters at the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia Monday.
When asked whether he is concerned that Azerbaijan will not ratify this regulation, he responded: “I have no such concern. I don’t think they [i.e. Azerbaijan] will delay [the ratification].”
And referring to the fact that the meetings of the tripartite commission on the unblocking issue are not continuing, the Armenian deputy PM said: “There are fundamental issues on which there should be a consensus. Until there is no consensus, it just makes no sense to continue discussing the details.”
The matter of ratifying the regulation on the joint activities of the Commission for the Delimitation of the State Border and Border Security between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the State Commission for the Delimitation of the State Border between Azerbaijan and Armenia started Monday at the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations.
The Armenian government has approved this regulation, and the Constitutional Court of Armenia has considered it consistent with the country’s constitution, emphasizing that the Declaration of Independence of Armenia is not part of the country’s constitution, although there is a reference to this declaration in the constitution.
