37th Anniversary of the Devastating Earthquake

On December 7, 1988, at 11:41 AM, a magnitude 9.0 earthquake struck, causing severe damage in northern Armenia, including the cities of Spitak, Leninakan (now Gyumri), Kirovakan (now Vanadzor), Stepanavan, and many other towns.

According to official figures, the earthquake killed 25,000 people and left hundreds of thousands homeless.
