The CSTO press service reported on Wednesday that a meeting of senior administrative officials of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Commonwealth of Independent States, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization took place in Beijing within the framework of the SCO Council of Heads of State and the SCO+ format.
The event was attended by CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov, CIS Secretary General Sergey Lebedev and SCO Secretary General Nurlan Ermekbayev.
“A signing ceremony of the Roadmap for the Development of Cooperation between the CSTO, CIS and SCO, as well as the Joint Statement of the CSTO, CIS and SCO Secretaries General on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations, took place,” the statement said.
It was noted that “an exchange of views took place on topical issues of the international situation, as well as priority areas of activity of the three organizations.” “Proposals for the further development and strengthening of cooperation in the field of regional security, as well as countering new challenges and threats, were discussed,” the press service added.
“A unanimous opinion was expressed that the CSTO, the CIS and the SCO are called upon to play an increasingly important role in maintaining global peace and regional security, and preventing instability. The focus on the formation of a new Eurasian security architecture, the development of economic cooperation and interaction in the cultural sphere was noted. The intention to coordinate integration projects and ensure the harmonization of relations between the development centers of Eurasia was confirmed,” the CSTO press service added.
