Amid the ongoing war in Iran, reports are circulating that long lines of trucks, up to three kilometers long, have formed at the Armenian-Iranian border, on both the Armenian and Iranian sides. Some drivers are raising the alarm, claiming the situation is worsening and that cargo transportation has been disrupted.
How many trucks remain at the border, and what is the government doing to assist the drivers?
State Revenue Committee spokesperson Lusine Mkrtchyan reported that no significant changes in the volume of cargo traffic from Armenia to Iran and back have been recorded in recent days.
The Agarak customs checkpoint continues to operate as usual, ensuring the uninterrupted movement of trucks both from Armenia to Iran and from Iran to Armenia. “On average, about 400-450 trucks are handled daily,” she noted.
Therefore, according to official data, there are no congestions at the border crossing, and cargo transportation continues as usual.
