Earthquakes that occurred in eastern Cuba on Sunday damaged the electricity infrastructure there. This was reported by the Cuban national energy company.
The company’s message in X noted, in particular, that in the provinces of Santiago de Cuba and Granma, where tremors were recorded, there is damage to transformers and cables. There are again failures in the operation of the national electricity system, and work is underway to restore it, the company reported.
Earlier, local media reported that earthquakes with a magnitude greater than 6 occurred in eastern Cuba. The president of the republic, Miguel Diaz-Canel, wrote in X that there were landslides and destruction in the region. No casualties were reported.
