On February 26, police received a call reporting that two days earlier, between 9:15 and 9:35 a.m., unknown individuals had entered Geghardavank, located in the village of Goght in the Kotayk region, and stolen approximately one million drams from the cash register.
Officers from the Garni District Police Department arrived at the scene. It was discovered that the theft had been committed by a 56-year-old man and a 55-year-old man. They had opened the cash register door with a homemade key, broken the seal, removed the cash, and then, to cover their tracks, re-sealed the seal, restoring the cash register’s appearance, and fled.
Thanks to the investigative efforts of the Garni District Police Department, a 56-year-old man was arrested on February 28 and confessed to the crime.
The second man was arrested on March 4.
The circumstances are being clarified during the preliminary investigation.
