His Holiness discussed with Artsakh authorities issues related to overcoming the problems of the residents of Artsakh and the release of prisoners of war and captives.

On October 8, His Holiness, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II, received state officials and representatives of political forces of Artsakh at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, led by Acting President of Artsakh Ashot Danielyan and Primate of the Artsakh Diocese, His Grace Bishop Vrtanes Abrahamyan. This was reported by the Mother See’s information system.

During the meeting, the Catholicos of All Armenians and Artsakh authorities discussed issues related to overcoming the difficulties faced by internally displaced persons from Artsakh and protecting the rights of Armenians in Artsakh.

In this regard, the social support programs implemented by the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and the psychosocial work carried out with the residents of Artsakh in their communities were also touched upon. His Holiness emphasized that the Armenian Church will continue its efforts in this direction.

The interlocutors emphasized the importance of taking joint, consistent steps at international forums to protect the rights of the people of Artsakh, the release of hostages and prisoners of war held in Azerbaijan, the search for missing persons, and the preservation of Artsakh’s spiritual and cultural heritage.

In conclusion, the Artsakh officials expressed their filial gratitude and devotion to the Apostolic Mother Church.
