If Pashinyan remains in power, tomorrow we may not be able to talk about many regions of Armenia. Metaxe Hakobyan

“This criminal government, which essentially admitted that it surrendered Artsakh, caused the death of our younger generation, and expanded Yerablur and the Yeghbayrak cemetery, should not have been given the opportunity to be re-elected even in 2021, but should have already served its sentence to the fullest extent of the law. Unfortunately, we missed the most crucial period,” says Artsakh National Assembly member Metaxe Hakobyan, commenting on Nikol Pashinyan’s recent anti-Artsakh statements.

According to him, the current Armenian government is acting precisely because of this omission.

“We thought that an Armenian couldn’t go all the way and serve a Turkish agenda. But if you think about it, our government is made up of people who serve a Turkish and Azerbaijani agenda. Moreover, from the podium of the European Parliament, Pashinyan not only once again attempted to completely hush up the Artsakh issue, but also, with his very existence, with his words, with every word he opens his mouth, every day, every second, he tries to convince the world that the Artsakh issue no longer exists for us. Yesterday, he humiliated us in the European Parliament and once again placed the Republic of Armenia in a very dangerous position.

We are faced with a man who has no red lines. His only red line is maintaining power. For him, neither Artsakh nor Armenia have any meaning; he is ready to do anything, to take any step, just to maintain his power. Therefore, to think that we can eradicate this evil through classic political processes, through election campaigns, preparation for elections, and victory in elections—I think this is yet another act of naivety.”

Artsakh National Assembly MP declares the need for a nationwide movement to raise awareness of the problem.

“Only in this way will we have the opportunity to restore the sovereignty and sovereign territories of Armenia and Artsakh, to once again speak about Artsakh, about our return there.

We, as a people, must show the world that this person, speaking on our behalf at various international forums, does not represent the wishes, goals, or dreams of the Armenian people. These are merely the wishes and goals of one person, which have nothing to do with our people.”

Metaxe Hakobyan emphasizes that Nikol Pashinyan is prepared to take any step: use violence, fire people from their jobs, ban the use of the name “Artsakh,” because he has received the “green light” to continue his rule even after 2020.

“Therefore, everything must be aimed at one goal: removing these people from power and holding them accountable to the fullest extent of the law. We have no other choice.

We must all understand this, in Armenia, in Artsakh, and in the diaspora. We must understand that as long as this person is in power, we will not be able to talk about Artsakh. And the time will come when we may not be able to talk about many regions of Armenia.”
