Kazakhstan will assume the chairmanship of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in 2026. This was announced by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko at a closed meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, TASS reports.
“One of the important issues on the agenda is the chairmanship of our union’s bodies in 2026. In accordance with the established procedure, this honorary right will pass to the Republic of Kazakhstan. I am convinced that the chairmanship in Astana will give a new and powerful impetus to the development of Eurasian economic integration, as it has always done for us,” he noted.
According to him, at the expanded meeting, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev may, if he wishes, present the priorities for the republic’s chairmanship of the EAEU next year.
In 2025, Belarus will assume the chairmanship of the Eurasian Economic Union.
The EAEU includes Belarus, Russia, Armenia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
