Parents of boys drafted into the army in the summer of 2025 organized a protest in front of the government, demanding that the decision to extend mandatory military service to 1.5 years be extended to their sons.
One parent emphasized the unfair treatment of their children. “One child enlisted in the summer of 2025, the other was born the same year, but with a different enlistment date. It’s unfair that they were divided into two groups.”
He added that they have been raising the issue of conscription for three to four months. “We’ve contacted various official bodies, sent letters, and received roughly the same response: the law was passed quickly, it’s not retroactive.”
According to the parent, the rapid passage of the law and the different deadlines for reducing summer conscription not only create inequality but also cause emotional distress. “We want the law revised so that our children are placed on equal terms,” one parent emphasized.
He also stressed that he personally advocates for a reduction in the length of service.
