A meeting between Russian and US Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump is not currently being prepared, said Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson of the Russian head of state.
“It is not being prepared now. But when the presidents consider it necessary, it will be done,” Peskov said, Interfax reports.
Also, the Kremlin spokesman was asked to comment on Trump’s statement that he was tired of “low-level” negotiations.
“Quite painstaking and, perhaps, in some areas, long-term work on the normalization is expected, due to the large number of nuances that need to be discussed. The Russian side is ready for this work,” Peskov responded.
Separately, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said that US President Donald Trump was open to the idea of a personal meeting with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, but she urged to wait for the results of their conversation.
Levitt added that Trump has made it clear that he wants to achieve a ceasefire as quickly as possible.
