Relations with Russia are very important, but there is one issue: we must have a second line of alliance, because from time to time, a situation may arise near your main ally that could create security problems. Broader, international alliances are acceptable for Armenia. Narek Karapetyan, coordinator of the “Our Way” movement, stated this at a press conference.
“Members of the Communist Party consider themselves conduits for Western forces, since they have failed to establish relations in the north, south, or east,” he noted. Karapetyan added that Western authorities may have met several times, but if they can resolve the same economic issues for Armenia that the West resolved for, for example, the Czech Republic, let them sit down and discuss them.
“We will simply pay for it, but we will not receive anything.” “I am deeply convinced that the Civil Contract Party is incapable of providing Armenia with the kind of support, economic or otherwise, that the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Poland once received,” he said.
He noted that they believe they are capable of improving economic relations, which has not happened before. “Admittedly, this isn’t difficult, because relations are at a very low level. Armenia’s trade turnover with France is $100 million. Doubling it, for example, wouldn’t be a great achievement for us,” Narek Karapetyan added.
