Sandu sworn in for second term as Moldovan president

Moldovan President Maia Sandu took the oath of office on Tuesday for her second term, Newsmaker reports.

In her speech after taking the oath, Sandu noted that society had managed to maintain peace and defend its democracy, despite the crises of recent years and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

She also called for national mobilization and the continuation of the country’s development path.

“I can tell you with my hand on my heart: I worked with dedication during my first mandate, and I will continue with even greater will and energy. After four years, I can modestly say that together we have done something that has never been done in 30 years of independence,” Sandu said.

She added that there is still much work ahead, but the path has been chosen correctly.

“I urge you to move forward with confidence. Do not forget what our Moldova means – heritage, optimism, struggle, development, organization, will, ambition,” Sandu said.
