The court acquitted a woman accused of treason.

The Yerevan City Criminal Court of First Instance (Chairwoman Ani Danielyan) issued a verdict in the case of RA Foreign Ministry employee Ashkhen Aleksanyan, acquitting him of the charges brought against him under Article 418 of the RA Criminal Code (imprisonment for a term of 15 to 20 years or life imprisonment), i.e., treason.

Lawyer Abgar Poghosyan wrote this on his Facebook page.

In particular, he noted: “In the court’s opinion, the latter’s actions constituted an act stipulated by Part 1 of Article 441 of the RA Criminal Code (maximum imprisonment for 4 years).

Although the defense will also appeal the verdict to the Criminal Court of Appeals, we would like to express our special gratitude to the court for its impartial, objective, and objective investigation.”

The lawyer also noted that Ashkhen Aleksanyan had in fact been subjected to unfair public slander, photographs had been distributed, the presumption of innocence had been violated, and information had been disseminated that had nothing to do with reality.
