The House Budget Committee has recommended approval of the Trump administration’s spending bill. The vote, broadcast on C-SPAN, took place Sunday evening.
The bill was voted in favor by 17 lawmakers, 16 against, and four abstained. The bill failed to pass a similar vote last Friday because five of Trump’s Republican allies opposed it. The bill will now go to the full House of Representatives.
The document, which Trump calls “one big beautiful bill,” includes significant tax cuts and government spending in some areas. At the same time, the document implies an increase in defense spending. In addition, it includes measures to tighten border controls and also provides for an increase in spending in this area.
Critics of the current administration, mostly from the Democratic Party, believe that the measures outlined in the bill are designed to cut taxes primarily for the wealthiest segments of the population and also threaten to deprive millions of Americans of preferential health insurance.
