Vigen Euljekjian, a Lebanese-Armenian held in an Azerbaijani prison, contacted his family. His wife, Linda Euljekjian, reported that Vigen called on Friday.
“He said he was fine. He asked for cigarettes and potatoes, saying he couldn’t eat anything else, and only asked for potatoes,” his wife said, adding that they don’t know how these items will be delivered.
“We contacted Siranush Sahakyan and asked her to clarify the options, but she replied that they can’t help with this issue at the moment; they don’t have the capacity to deliver anything. Since the Red Cross left Azerbaijan, there isn’t a single organization that would visit them or send food, clothing, or cigarettes,” Linda Euljekjian said.
Euljekjian, 46, is a citizen of Armenia and Lebanon who was abducted by Azerbaijani armed forces in Nagorno-Karabakh on November 10, 2020, the day after a ceasefire agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan ended the 44-day war in Artsakh. He is one of six civilians held hostage by Azerbaijan. He has already gone on hunger strike three times while in captivity.
