Zakharova Shocked by “Some Armenian Politicians” Abandoning the Armenian Genocide

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that she was shocked that the history of the Armenian Genocide has ceased to be sacred in Armenia, noting that some Armenian politicians have begun discussing the possibility of abandoning the topic.

“There are moments in history when peoples and countries literally disappear, unable to cope with trials. They betray what is truly sacred and should remain sacred to them. Look, I was simply shocked how seemingly sacred history, including sacred philosophy based on the history of the Armenian Genocide, suddenly, in the interpretation of many Armenian leaders and statesmen, turns into some kind of political factor, which, by its very nature, can be abandoned. Can you imagine?” Zakharova said.

He emphasized that there are things that are truly inviolable and sacred because they cost the lives of countless people.
