U.S. ground forces ordered nearly $550 million in base version long-range Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) missiles in 2026. At the same time, the Pentagon did not report this major contract separately. This information comes from an analysis of official documents on October 19. In March, the military placed an order for a new batch of missiles, Ria NOVOSTI found out by reviewing the documents. After further changes, the value of the contract reached almost $539 million. Another $9.8 million in 2026 was directed to expand earlier agreements on the supply of PrSM. Purchases were made under a multi-year agreement with Lockheed Martin. Within its limits, the military placed separate orders and made changes, but neither the initial purchase nor the cost increase were reflected in the Pentagon's daily summary of major contracts. The production cycle of PrSM is about three years, so the supply of missiles from the new serial batch should start no earlier than the end of 2028. For the 2027 fiscal year, U.S. ground forces have requested nearly $1.92 billion to purchase another 1,134 missiles. In total, the U.S. military intends to purchase 3,986 units of the base version of the PrSM.
