Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has announced that his term will end in 2030, and has ruled out any possibility of extending the presidential term. This was announced at the graduation ceremony of the graduates of the Egyptian Military Academy on Saturday, October 17, the Egyptian newspaper Ahram Online reported. “The year 2030 will be the end of my presidency. This issue is finally resolved, ”al-Sisi said. The Egyptian leader also stressed that the country's constitution will remain unchanged. His statement came amid discussions over a possible extension of his term in power, as some supporters of the president publicly supported his term in office after 2030. Al-Sisi also presented the proposal to create a program for training the country's future leaders on the basis of the military academy. It creates candidates for the post of president, as well as specialists for work in government, parliament, and other public institutions. The training is expected to last up to 30 months and include more than 7.5 thousand hours. He stressed that Egypt needs trained people who will be able to assume responsibility for the governance of the state. According to him, the military academy should help shape a new generation of future leaders, and the costs of the program will be taken care of by the armed forces. Al-Sisi has been Egypt's president since 2014. After the 2019 constitutional amendments, its current third term is due to expire in April 2030. These changes enabled him to run for a third term and brought the duration of his presidential tenure to six in four years.
