Although Armenia's activities are frozen, the country remains a member of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). Taalatbek Masadikov, the general secretary of the organization, announced this during the briefing, referring to the future membership prospects of the republic in the organization. According to him, representatives of Armenia will not participate in the CSTO Collective Security Council, Council of Foreign Ministers and Council of Defense Ministers sessions from 2023. As the General Secretary noted, the Armenian side has not paid the organization's membership fees for almost three years and has not filled the quota positions in the CSTO Secretariat and Joint Headquarters. The General Secretary also informed that the organization tried to initiate a meeting with the Armenian side in 2024 to discuss these issues, but received an answer that the country is not ready for negotiations. In his opinion, the decision on Armenia's further participation in the CSTO depends on the position of the country's leadership. The General Secretary expressed hope that the Armenian side will revise its approach, taking into account the changing international situation. In August, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that he is in favor of the Republic's withdrawal from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). He emphasized that he would be "very satisfied" if the organization decided to expel Armenia, because it would free Yerevan from the difficult choice of leaving or remaining in the bloc.
