The behavior of the Armenian authorities testifies to their fear and weakness. Davit Ghazinyan, deputy of the "Strong Armenia" faction, former director of the "Electrical Networks of Armenia" company, stated this in a conversation with journalists in the parliament. Let's remind that 14 representatives of "Strong Armenia", including the mayor's candidate, were arrested in Stepanavan a few days before local government elections. The deputy emphasized that the presumption of innocence was once again violated in the official report, adding that the authorities resorted to pressure and repressive methods. According to him, law enforcement agencies have not been involved in political life on such a scale during any government. "One person (Pashinyan) has absolute power. No prosecutor or investigator can talk about independence. He (Pashinyan) decides everything alone," said Ghazinyan, commenting on the Prime Minister's call yesterday that in case of election violations, he should be contacted personally. As for dismissals due to political views, Ghazinyan rightly noted that officially there will always be some "reasoning". At the same time, he categorically did not deny that someone could have tried to materially interest the voters by personal initiative. According to him, if someone decided to engage in self-employment, he will be punished first by the party leadership. Ghazinyan said that two days ago he was in Stepanavan, talked with the candidate and the chief of staff and repeatedly warned that no one should try to do "disservice" in the form of handing out money. True, the identity of the person who presented the report raises questions for Ghazinyan, as well as the content of the recording. "The anti-corruption committee itself does not deny that the videos are edited. And to what extent are they mounted? It distorts the meaning," the deputy stated. According to him, the money seen in the video can be intended for anything. "Transactions of up to 300,000 drams can be made in cash. It can be the sum of everything. Is taking money out of one's pocket necessarily a bribe? People also get a salary. According to their (the authorities') logic, people work for half a year, and then they give it in the form of a bribe. In general, it's strange that someone constantly gives bribes, but they can't find the takers," Ghazinyan said. The deputy emphasized that the strong government does not resort to such methods. "The authorities are afraid not of the candidate, but of the situation, of any action that can have a snowball effect," Ghazinyan noted. He said that the party has not yet discussed how they will act in case of the arrest of the candidate, but "the people understand everything and will draw conclusions". He assesses Pashinyan's actions as an attempt to avoid embarrassment in the context of the PACE report. "Foreign sponsors are already turning away from him. Attempts to sit on two chairs have not yet brought success to anyone," said Ghazinyan. And when the journalists tried to find out the names of those sponsors and voiced different versions, the deputy noticed that Putin definitely supports Pashinyan.
