President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky stated that the relaxation of sanctions against Russia will not contribute to the end of the war, but, on the contrary, will give Vladimir Putin an opportunity to believe that his actions are supported. Accordingto the head of Ukraine, Putin feels "joy and happiness" from such an attitude towards Moscow, Zelensky said when answering reporters' questions online, writes Euroskaya Pravda. Referring to Donald Trump's decision not to impose new sanctions on Russia under the Grammy law, Zelensky expressed concern that the restrictions on Moscow would weaken further in the future. “I think the diesel tool is just the first step. Unfortunately, it seems to me that this way it is impossible to stop Putin; on the contrary, he enjoys the joy and happiness of having such support,” the Ukrainian president said. At the same time, Zelensky expressed hope that Trump would continue his efforts to end the war. Accordingto him, the Russian leader should stop the killings, strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure and hostilities. The Ukrainian president stressed that Putin could not be stopped by either limiting Kiev's retaliatory actions to Russian attacks or lifting sanctions on Moscow. Zelensky also said that on Friday, the Ukrainian negotiating group was in contact with the American side. According to him, the parties are discussing the possibility of organizing a meeting. “I am also ready to meet with them. I thought they'd find the time and opportunity to come to Brussels, but it didn't work out for the American side. But I think they'll have the opportunity this week and we'll find the appropriate format for the meeting, ”he said. On October 16, Trump signed a decree that refused to impose new sanctions on Russia based on the Grammy law, explaining the decision in the national interest of the United States. The next day, Zelensky stated that the law could still serve as a tool to exert pressure on Moscow.
