A 34-year-old woman was summoned to the Investigative Committee for questioning for a comment written under an article about the Prime Minister.

A 34-year-old resident of the Kotayk region was issued a summons to the Investigative Committee for leaving a comment under an article about Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on a news website. Vera’s husband said that they received the summons yesterday and went to the Investigative Committee for questioning today. According to the summons, Vera was called for questioning as a witness, but in fact, as a suspect.

“My wife wrote under an article in one of the media: “Whoever renounces the territories belonging to Armenia will have their hands cut off.” My wife’s page is not fake, it is real, that’s why a case was opened over her comment. Many people leave comments on fake pages. Maybe they do this so that others understand and do not say anything unnecessary. My wife did nothing, she just wrote a comment, you can’t violate a person’s right to freedom of speech. People insult each other to their faces… and they call my wife in for questioning for her comment. “This is a violation of human rights,” Vera’s husband said, noting that the woman’s comment was not a call for violence and did not imply any specific actions on her part.

He mentioned that he and his wife have two small children and are a large family. They moved to Yerevan from the Kotayk region, work and live in the capital.

Our interlocutor reported that during the ongoing investigative actions, the woman’s phone was confiscated.

It should be noted that Article 330, Part 2, Clause 3 of the Criminal Code mentioned in the notification refers to public calls for violence, public justification or propaganda of violence, as well as the dissemination of materials or objects for this purpose, through publicly displayed works, mass media, information and communication technologies.
