Against the backdrop of the Brownian movement raging in the country, in connection with the ongoing campaign to denigrate the church, the immoral political persecution of Samvel Karapetyan, Nikol’s “pilgrimage” to Turkey and the unleashed war against Iran, discussions of the impeachment topic, which has taken its place on the political agenda, are acquiring new shades.
Having not publicly challenged the relevance of the issue of Nikol’s removal from office the day before, our fellow parliamentarians from the opposition field, nevertheless, do not miss the opportunity to deliver stinging blows to us in this situation, continuing to create a divisive atmosphere in the anti-Nikol camp and weaken the already disunited opposition.
Trying to avoid discussing the main issue – the need to remove Nicola and honestly announce their true reasons for torpedoing impeachment, our colleagues in their interviews focus on secondary, technical and procedural issues, sometimes openly resorting to outright sophistry. Below I will consider their main “arguments”.
1. “Did you see that impeachment was originally a Republican plan?” I leave aside the fact that even in chronological order this is not true. Let’s see, they are right, and the Republicans are the “spouses” of the idea of initiating the impeachment process. So what? Are we proposing something bad? Isn’t this against Nicola? Isn’t this aimed at a change of power? Isn’t this constitutional? Or, as you like to say, all the previous initiatives were “yours”, and now you are making scenes of primitive political jealousy and obstructing the process.
2. They say: “The Republicans are dishonest, they published their signatures during the negotiations.” And here our colleagues, to put it mildly, are being disingenuous. Because in fact, they are not outraged by the fact that our deputies, 6 collected signatures for a real impeachment, were made public, but by the fact that they wanted to publish their list of signatures first and thereby further mislead the public, which is already unable to cope with internal opposition slander.
3. They say: “The impeachment process is against us, not Nikol.” This is probably the masterpiece of all the sophistries voiced. Only the gods of Scandinavian mythology can guess how the process of expressing no confidence in Nikol in the current open game affects our colleagues. What is our fault that you do not want to nominate a second president, and nominating any of the 2-3 very strong candidates in your ranks when Robert Kocharyan is not nominated is a mortal sin for you.
4. They say: “We were not presented with a clear program.” Saying this, our colleagues immediately move on to unrealistic parallels with the Homeland Salvation Movement (HSM) and the “Resistance” movement. I do not want to be misunderstood, so I will not go into detail in this format, but one thing is clear: the previous movements were not successful, so without blaming anyone for their failures, I would kindly advise that the thesis “we had a program, and you do not” be dried, folded and put on the farthest shelf.
5. They say: “The members of the CP will not join the impeachment.” If the previous theses were completely unfounded, then in this case we are talking about probability and possibilities, around which a wide field for various speculations may open up. However, it cannot be denied that after November 9, a number of MPs left the CP, one of whom, for example, is very active and visible in the “Armenia” bloc, currently becoming the first female figure in this faction. Therefore, it is quite possible that in the event of public pressure and new threatening force majeure, impeachment may open the “road to Damascus” for other, currently ruling MPs. And do not be surprised that after all this, people do not understand why one opposition faction does not actually join the anti-Nikolin initiative of another, especially since the initiator, the Republican Party, declared that it takes political responsibility for the process.
And do not be surprised that people begin to think that there is something else behind this, that they are not being honest with them. Of course, I can guess what is really behind the non-signing. But I will not write about this for now, continuing to enjoy another series of frank interviews aimed at concealing reality.
