Russia wants Israel to ‘immediately’ withdraw its troops from Lebanon

In Moscow, Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia Alexander Fomin held a meeting with the Ambassador of Lebanon to the Russian Federation Shawki Fares Bou Nassar.

As reported by the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry, during the talks the parties discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of defense and the fight against terrorism, the situation in Lebanon and the Middle East region.

An exchange of views took place on the current situation related to the escalation of the Lebanese-Israeli conflict. The parties agreed that this conflict should be resolved exclusively by political and diplomatic means, and Israeli troops should be immediately withdrawn from Lebanese territory to find real peaceful ways to resolve the Middle East conflict.

The parties confirmed their readiness for further cooperation.
