Today, October 2, seven servicemen who participated in the Artsakh wars left their medals and awards in front of the government building. The event took place in the rain.
No one from the government came out to collect their medals. The soldiers were forced to fight for their service and their homeland, and in return, they placed the medals and awards they had received on the ground in front of the government building.
“This system of yours, your political leadership… there’s no point in continuing it,” said one of the servicemen, Armen Petrosyan, addressing the police officers lined up in front of the government building.
Before giving up the medals, he showed one of his medals and said excitedly, “This is my most precious medal. I received it during my military service, when we ‘went to their house’ for not acting prudently in the presence of an enemy officer. The unit commander spoke words of pride that I will never forget. “I present this with regret.”
Hayk Navasardyan, a participant in the 44-Day War, also noted: “The current government is consistently devaluing and devaluing all the values for which we fought and received medals and awards. With this step, we want to show that we disagree with the policies pursued by this government.”
Albert Tadevosyan, a participant in the 44-Day War and a volunteer, said they do not want to live in a country that will soon cease to exist due to this government’s policies.
