The Georgian Parliamentary Delegation will not participate in the 12th Plenary Session of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly, which will be held in Yerevan from October 28 to 30.
“The multilateral dialogue, which previously enjoyed broad support among Assembly participants, is unfortunately a thing of the past. Georgia is increasingly concerned about the actions of some MEPs, whose hostile rhetoric and actions contradict the principles of partnership and mutual respect,” Levan Makhashvili, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on European Integration, stated in a letter to the Euronest leadership on social media.
Georgia also expresses deep concern over the decision to invite to the session individuals who participated in or supported attempts to overthrow the government and undermine legitimate democratic institutions in Georgia.
“By providing them with a platform, Euronest normalises and encourages anti-democratic behaviour, justifies violence and radical political views,” the letter says.
