As many remember, just a few years ago, government representatives talked about how modestly they lived: they could not always afford to go to a pub with friends or buy a beer. This was presented as a symbol of their identification with the “ordinary people.”
Today, however, the picture is different. On the hands of Justice Minister Surbuhi Galayan at public events and in photographs, one can see not ordinary accessories but jewelry of the highest luxury level: a Cartier bracelet and a Chopard diamond ring. The value of these pieces amounts to thousands, sometimes even tens of thousands of dollars.
Naturally, questions arise:
Where does the money for such expensive jewelry come from?
Are the minister’s declared incomes sufficient for such purchases?
And is it appropriate for the head of the justice ministry to appear in such ostentatious luxury while ordinary citizens face everyday difficulties?
This situation has long generated public distrust: people see the difference between the promised modesty and the actual luxurious life. For this reason, the Cartier bracelet and Chopard ring are not merely jewelry; they have become symbols of the questions that arise in citizens’ minds every day.
After all, the justice minister should primarily inspire trust in society, but when such expensive jewelry sparkles on her hands, more questions arise than answers.
