Will a person who forged a diploma become a member of parliament? Essentially, changes will take place in the Constitutional Court.

We have been informed by the National Assembly that, in accordance with Article 166, Part 1 of the Constitution and Article 141, Part 4 of the Constitutional Law “Statute of the National Assembly,” the President of the Republic of Armenia has nominated Vladimir Vardanyan for the position of judge of the Constitutional Court.

Well, naturally, both hammer and nail are in the hands of the Constitutional Court, so it is clear that Vardanyan will become a judge of the Constitutional Court. But who will replace him in parliament and “enjoy the parliamentary mandate” for two months?

As we learn from the 2021 Constitutional Court election list, it is Vahan Zaroyan’s turn, ranked 104th on the list.

It should be noted that even then, his candidacy sparked considerable debate. As a reminder, Zaroyan was among those who protested against the second president in 2019. Prior to that, on June 27, 2018, he was appointed deputy governor of Gegharkunik, but was dismissed on October 16, 2018.
According to rumors circulating in the press, Zaroyan forged a diploma to secure the coveted deputy governor position, for which Pashinyan dismissed him. The criminal case against him was later dropped under an amnesty.
Zaroyan also ran in the Vardenis local government elections at the time, hoping to become mayor, but luck was not on his side there either, and Aram Melkonyan was elected mayor. Now it’s his turn to become deputy governor. In essence, he will receive the “coveted” position.
