“I was fired from the position of director not on my application. On the 30th, they fired me under the article “Loss of trust”, on the 31st, the governor came to the school, pushed the Artsakh flag with his finger, told me to “take it off the piano”, but before this municipality came to give a report, they saw it, went around again, said. “You are too strong against us, I will not advise you”, after which the decision on dismissal followed, Karine Smbatyan, the former director of the school in the village of Sardarapat, Armavir region, told us in an interview, commenting on the governor’s decision on dismissal.
It should be noted that by the decision of the governor of Armavir Vagram Khachatryan, the director of the school in the village of Sardarapat was fired from his post due to the loss of trust in Karina Smbatyan. According to Karina Smbatyan, she held this position for 10 years, but now she is being fired because of the upcoming elections, as well as because her political views do not coincide with the position of the governor or the government as a whole.
“And the flag, and my political views, and the fact that I am an oppositionist, — disobeying them — coincided. It is clear that the elections are coming, they have to do something to remove opposition directors from the road, but they made me stronger by doing this. I had political views, they knew about it, but that didn’t stop me, and I never did any propaganda at school, I fulfilled my duties. Our school is the largest general education school in the Armavir region and the school with the highest rating in the field of education,” explained the former director.
According to the former director, under his leadership the educational process at the school was not interrupted even when the construction work stopped, disrupting the normal course of work.
“For a year in a row, when construction work stopped, we worked in three shifts in the initial section. No one was interested in how we ensure the continuity of our education,” concluded Karine Smbatyan.
Tatev Mkrtchyan, the press secretary of the administration of Armavir region, was also contacted for a comment on this occasion, who denied the information about the dismissal of Karina Smbatyan from the post of flag of Artsakh, adding that on other issues it is necessary to send a written application.
