During an invited press conference, the head and coordinator of the “Our Way” movement Narek Karapetyan announced the creation of the volunteer movement and also noted that at the second stage, we will create a party.
At the beginning of his speech, Karapetyan noted that a moment has come in the socio-political life of Armenia when the expectations of our people are not met.
“The existing social and political groups, focused on promoting hatred towards each other, sow discord among our people. The more discord and hatred there is, the worse our affairs are. The style of governance plays an important role here. The government has not transformed from a yellow press editor into a unifying force of the state.
Hatred towards the opposition, generated by injustice, prevents us from looking at the situation coldly and dispassionately. Years ago, the government said: “Proud citizens!”, today it convinces us of something else: they say that our nation must surrender and accept that our nation has no uniform. The Armenian nation has a uniform, all that remains is to show everyone our uniform,” he said.
Then he noted that today, together with the supporters and partners of national philanthropist Samvel Krapetyan, they are announcing the creation of a volunteer movement “In Our Uniform.”
“And why are we announcing the creation of a volunteer movement, and not a party? A volunteer movement is a format that will allow us to unite people in our society, without dividing them, for good, great and noble deeds. A movement is an apolitical voluntary association of people who are ready to selflessly serve a common goal. People of different professions and views can become participants in the movement, who can participate in the work of the movement in their free time,” Karapetyan said.
After this statement, Narek Karapetyan noted that this does not mean that they will not create a party.
“This is the first stage of our work. Electoral processes are expected in Armenia in the near future, and the most appropriate way to participate in them, as provided by law, is to participate in a party. In the second stage of our activities, we are preparing to turn the professional programs and projects we have developed into state programs through a party that will be created on the basis of the movement,” he said.
