Armenian-Turkish business forum will be held in Armenia. This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ararat Mirzoyan, on October 15 in Yerevan during a joint press conference with OSCE Chairman-in-Office Ignacio Cassis. Answering the question about the grounds for optimism regarding the opening of the border with Turkey and the new negotiator, the minister noted that negotiations between states in the world are permanent and, as a rule, until they are completed and there are no results, they are not reported. Negotiations with Turkey are not an exception, but the parties are in almost daily dialogue, Mirzoyan said. Speaking about the achievements of the last period, he recalled the lifting of the ban on direct trade with Armenia in Turkey, the joint restoration of the Ani bridge, as well as the project of restarting the Gyumri-Kars railway. In this context, he offered to visit Akhurik and see for himself the extent of the works being carried out. Moreover, the border was "partially opened" for the business delegation participating in the conference held in Turkey. The conference was so successful that the parties wanted to continue it already in Armenia. As Mirzoyan emphasized, the ultimate goal is the official establishment of diplomatic relations (although contacts and dialogue are present) and the full opening of the border. According to him, the process has matured enough. To the clarifying question whether the name of the new negotiator is known, Mirzoyan stated that there may not be a need for a new negotiator, as the border may be opened earlier.
