The Interior Ministry proposes to tighten liability for a number of traffic violations. The draft amendment to the Code on Administrative Offences proposes to impose a fine of 10 thousand drams and 1 or 2 penalty points for certain violations. The draft proposes to impose a fine of 10 thousand drams and 2 penalty points for failure to comply with the requirements of the road signs “Access is prohibited” or “Truck traffic is prohibited”. The Ministryof Internal Affairs also proposes to establish separate liability for violation of transportation rules for children under 12. If the draft is accepted, the driver will be fined 10,000 AMD and 1 penalty point will be applied. Another amendment provides for the establishment of a vehicle on the second or more row of the roadway. For this violation, it is also proposed to impose a fine of 10,000 drams and 1 penalty point. The draft amendment also proposes a review of driving under the influence of drugs or psychotropic substances. Along with blood and urine, the code also provides for the booking of saliva screenings. That is, the presence of a narcotic or psychotropic substance in the saliva will also be verified by the scheduled procedure. If the draft is accepted, the changes will take effect on the tenth day following the official publication date of the law.
