Russian and American delegations will hold a second meeting in Riyadh on Tuesday, February 25, Die Zeit writes, citing diplomatic sources.
The publication does not specify who will participate in the meeting, noting only that it will be a continuation of the talks that took place on February 18 in the capital of Saudi Arabia. At that time, the Russian delegation was headed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, and the American delegation was headed by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The meeting at this level was the first since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. Representatives of the EU and Ukraine did not participate in the talks.
The talks on February 25 in Riyadh, Die Zeit writes, will take place the day after the visit to the United States of French President Emmanuel Macron, who met with Donald Trump at the White House. After the meeting, Trump said that a ceasefire agreement could be reached in the coming weeks.
