Peskov: A Coherent Peace Plan for Ukraine Is Not on the Agenda Yet

A well-coordinated peace plan for the Ukrainian settlement is not yet on the agenda. This was indicated at a briefing by the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov, TASS reports.

“Some initial sketches of such eventual peace plans are appearing. Although it is too early to say that there is some kind of well-coordinated institutionalized peace plan on the agenda,” the Kremlin representative noted.

The issue of Ukrainian settlement has been one of the central international problems in recent years. The new American administration has taken a course toward restoring ties with Russia and resolving the conflict as soon as possible, but this is being hampered by both Kyiv and European countries.

Moscow advocates resolving the conflict by political and diplomatic means, provided that the root causes of the conflict are eliminated. At the same time, Western Europe believes it is necessary to inflict a “strategic defeat” on Russia to ensure Kyiv’s advantages in possible negotiations and a settlement on Ukraine’s terms.
