What happened 110 years ago and the current reality of the Armenians of Artsakh is one and the same genocide. announcement

It is impossible to separate what happened 110 years ago and the current reality of the Armenians of Artsakh. This is one and the same genocide, stretched over time. Committee for the preservation of Artsakh issued a statement on this occasion.

The statement, in particular, says: “On April 24, the Armenian people bowed their heads in honor of the victims of one of the greatest tragedies in the history of humanity: the Armenian Genocide, committed in Turkey.” More than one and a half million Armenians were systematically exterminated only because they were Armenians. This was not the result of war and it was not the result of random violence. This was a pre-planned, cold-blooded crime aimed at the destruction of the entire nation.

Today, after a century and a decade, we declare with pain and deep concern: the tragedy of the Armenian people did not end in 1915. The events that occurred in Artsakh in recent years – ethnic cleansing, forced displacement of the Armenian population from its historical land, destruction of cultural heritage, indifference and silence of the international community – are a continuation of that program. We became witnesses of a new manifestation of the same goal: the liquidation of the historical presence of the Armenian people, the break of its connection with the homeland.

This is not two genocides. This is one and the same genocide, stretched over time.

This is one ideology, one thought, continuous action, pursuing one and the same goal: to deny the right of the Armenian people to exist as a nation, as a civilization, as a full-fledged subject of history.

We urge the international community to realize: the impunity of the past breeds the tragedies of the present. As long as the Genocide of 1915 is not universally recognized and condemned, and the events in Artsakh do not receive a well-deserved legal and political assessment, the risk of repeating such crimes remains real.

The Armenian nation is the bearer of a thousand-year-old civilization, culture and steadfast spirit. But even the oldest people should not always be in the status of victims. We don’t want revenge, we need justice. We are not looking for conflict, we are looking for truth.

And this is the truth: it is impossible to talk about human rights, peace and civilized relations, if in the XXI century genocide again becomes a reality in the eyes of the whole world.

We require.

International recognition not only in 1915. The Armenian genocide, as well as the ethnic cleansing carried out in Artsakh, are a continuation of the same anti-Armenian policy.

Independent investigation and legal assessment with international participation 2020-2023. about events.

Full protection of the right of the Armenian people to return to their historical homeland, to a safe and dignified life, as well as to preserve their cultural identity.

Today’s silence is tomorrow’s participation.

Let this day of remembrance become not only a day of mourning, but also a beacon of truth, justice and a clear guarantee that such tragedies will not happen again.
