US President Donald Trump told Truth Social on Wednesday that Americans should be patient in the face of the first quarter economic slowdown, arguing that his tariffs will eventually lead to a boom in the US economy.
The economy shrank in the first quarter due to a glut of goods imported by businesses looking to avoid higher costs, underscoring the destructive nature of Trump’s often chaotic tariff policies.
Republican Trump blamed his Democratic predecessor Joe Biden for the poor numbers.
“This is a Biden stock market, not a Trump stock market. Our country is going to boom, but we have to get rid of the Biden overhang. It will take a while, HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE TARIFFS, just that he left us with bad numbers, but when the boom comes, it will be unlike anything else. “BE PATIENT!!!”, the US President wrote.
